Former local government chairmen, councillors and political appointees in the Local Governments in Imo from 29th May 2011 to 28th May 2019, may be living in fears, Daily Nigerian Horn can authoritatively report.
The Committee for the Investigation of Corrupt Practices of Former Local Government chairmen in Imo state from 29th May 2011 to 28th May, 2019 constituted by Governor Emeka Ihedioha, is leaving no stone unturned in its determination to unearth the alleged ‘mess’ that characterized the era under investigation.
The committee as part of its effort to get proper information, has called for memoranda from the general public.
In a release issued by the secretary to the committee, Dr. Ken Uzoechi and publicity head, Hon. Chief Ezikiel Chukwukere (I know this man); the committee asked the public or any person who has had transaction with any or all the former LG officers to send in their memoranda.
- Name, address, phone number and email address of the writer.
- Information relating to Local Government activities in Imo state during the period under review.
- All financial transactions relating to local governments in Imo state including statutory allocations to Local Governments, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and all capital and recurrent expenditure, staffing and properties of the Local Governments within the period under review.
- Any other relevant and important and which will enable the committee to make recommendations to the Governor on how to strengthen the Local Government system in Imo state.
“All memoranda shall be submitted to the committee’s secretariat at the conference room, office of the Secretary to the Government of Imo state on or before 26th August, 2019” the release stated.
