Imo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Gerald Irona has cautioned leaders of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta local government areas who are in the habit of instigating and encouraging violence in the area to desist forthwith.
Irona handed the warning while interacting with stakeholders from Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Local Government Area at Oguta civic centre on Sunday.
The deputy governor stated categorically that any political leader, individuals or the traditional rulers caught in the act of arming the youths to perform nasty actions like raping, stealing, kidnapping or involved in other social vices, must be subjected to face the full wrath of the law.
Irona also stated unequivocally that the present Imo State government is not interested in granting amnesty to crime perpetrators or lavishing amnesty as an encouragement instrument to criminality even as he disclosed that the government is fully ready to terminate Former Governor Rochas Okorocha led administration amnesty if the beneficiaries are found wanting.
The Oguta born politician also revealed that the present Imo State government is on high gear towards actualization of her plan to complete and equip security agencies deployed in the areas.
He charged parents to caution their children to desist from crime or stand to be handled like law defaulters.
Other things discussed in the meeting were issues that concerned ISOPADEC, Ada-palm, Rubber plantation, Local Government administration and how to deliver good governance.
In his remarks, the ISOPADEC M.D, Engr. Anthony Okwuosha commended Governor Emeka Ihedioha and his Deputy Irona for their determination to better Oil Producing communities in the State and promised to remain supportive to security agencies while carrying out their duties.
He assured that ISOPADEC will in no distant time proffer solutions to problems of oil producing areas youths.
