Feelers received from the camp of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State strongly indicate that any moment from now the hammer will descend on some of the party big wigs.
Already three local government party chairmen have been penciled for removal. They include the Hon Tony Mbaegbu-Ideato South, Isu LGA-Anayo Udechukwu and Oru East-Anayo N
Privileged information gathered exclusively by Daily Nigerian Horn indicates that they are being removed for alleged anti party activities. Some of them were seen to be half-hearted in their support while the party prosecuted its campaign.
In the case of Hon Tony Mbaegbu, our source revealed that he allegedly worked effectively with Governor Rochas Okorocha which made the party to lose heavily in his local government. He is described as stubborn and his actions were found to have split loyalty in the party within the area.
Their loyalty was so much questionable as they allegedly hobnobbed and gambled with other parties unsure that the PDP will win. Now that the party secured victory at the polls they are making a bold move to assert their position.
Their sack resulted from the ratification of the State Working Committee (SWC) who gave nod to the report of the Disciplinary Committee that investigated their activities. They have earlier undergone trial by their respective Ward and Local Government Area party officials.
Twenty six (26) other party officials at various levels especially at the Wards were also given the boot for various other charges and irregularities. Some others got a reprieve as their sack or expulsions were converted to some months of suspension after hearing their matter.
In Amandugba Ward 1, Chief Polycarp Ajoko, Hon Bonny Ugwuegbu and Mr. Vincent Okehie did not escape the hammer from the disciplinary committee. So also is Ekene Ibejiuba (Okosisi) who had his indefinite suspension converted to six months.
Daily Nigerian Horn also scooped that more heads will roll in the days ahead because the result of the exercise carried out state wide were not completely released. The results in all the 27 local governments have not been fully given attention.
A political watcher had described the victims as people who see politics as a gamble because according to him they lacked the courage to remain faithful to a particular course. Our source also revealed that the party is out to sanitize itself and remove the bags with a view to making progress.
