The immediate past governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has challenged Governor Emeka Ihedioha to unveil his programme or blue-print for the state and her people.
Okorocha who stated this in a release issued by his Media Adviser, Sam Onwuemeodo on Thursday, added that Ihedioha’s repeated attacks on him both in the media and at every forum cannot be taken or adjudged as his programme or blue-print.
The release reads n full:
“It has become increasingly necessary to appeal passionately to the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Chief Emeka Ihedioha to unveil his programme or blue print for the State and her people since his repeated attacks on his Predecessor, Senator Rochas Okorocha both in the media and at every forum and his concerted effort to discredit all that his predecessor left behind as achievements cannot be taken or adjudged as his programme or Blue-Print.
“The concern has been that since Chief Ihedioha was inaugurated as governor, he has not done any other thing than to attack Senator Okorocha and doing all he could, to discredit all the landmark projects of the former governor and he has been restless in doing that.
“Penultimate week, he brought more than forty writers and key bloggers in the Country to Owerri and not to see his achievements because he has not got any or to unveil his Blue-Print but to blackmail Okorocha and discredit his achievements, and at the end of the whole thing, he Commissioned his guests to launch media attacks against the former people’s governor.
“When Okorocha was governor, he only invited responsible media Chieftains in the Country to come and see his projects and score him accordingly. And in each case, the media Captains would commend him in areas that had deserved Commendation and also told him areas they felt he was not getting it right.
“Okorocha never invited media managers or writers against any of his Predecessors, Chief Achike Udenwa or Chief Ikedi Ohakim for the eight years he was governor. But in the case of Ihedioha, he invited them solely to take Rochas to the cleaners. And it should not be the way to go.
“He has closed the two flyovers and the tunnels that had been in use more than three years before his governorship and without issues. And to make something out of nothing, he would use the pothole somewhere and said it was on the flyover. Let him take the full-length photographs of the flyovers and tunnels and post them out for people to see.
“There is nothing wrong with the flyovers and tunnels or any other project of Owelle Okorocha. All the issues the governor is raising about the projects is just to discredit them. He said he has brought Engineers to examine the flyovers and we are waiting for their findings then we come up with our own side of the story. Nigerians will then be in a position to know whose account should be believed.
“The governor said he sacked the elected Chairmen and Councillors because Okorocha did a similar thing. This claim is false. Okorocha acted on the strength of the Judgement of Justice Goddy Anunihu that declared the PDP primary that produced the Chairmen and Councillors illegal following the Court action taken by a faction of the PDP in the State then led by Dr. Alex Obi and others.
“Chief Ihedioha also sacked the 3000 workers employed by the last administration because he said Okorocha equally sacked those employed by Chief Ohakim. This is also not true. Chief Ohakim said he engaged ten thousand youths few months to the end of his tenure with no interviews Conducted or appointment or confirmation letters offered. But in the case of Okorocha, the vacancies were advertised, interviews Conducted and those employed given appointment and confirmation letters since 2017. And they have been receiving their salaries since 2017. They are two different scenarios.
“Once again, we want to appeal to Governor Ihedioha to hit the ground running or keep the ball rolling. And the ground to hit running or the ball to keep rolling cannot be attacking Rochas Okorocha and discrediting his monumental achievements.”
