Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia state says the importance of agriculture for national policy and economic development of the country could no longer be ignored.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of the 2019 National Farming Season, held by Bank of Agriculture, in conjunction with the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Abia state Government, at International Conference Center, Umuahia, Abia state Capital, Governor Ikpeazu pointed out that Agriculture remained a vital key to ensuring a lasting, sustainable development and growth of any willing state.

on the theme: ‘Agricultural Financing: A Panacea For National Development’, Governor Ikpeazu stressed the importance of agriculture charged stakeholders of agriculture to embrace technology in farming.
According to him, agriculture answers two key ventures that bedeviled Nigeria, namely: unemployment and industrialization, as he described the theme of the event as one suitable for the present day demand for better agricultural program, adding “because it’s a pillar that supports economic growth”, he said, and advised youth to embrace agriculture by leveraging on the opportunity created by BOA.
Earlier in his remarks, ED, Partnership /Strategy, Bank of Agriculture, Professor Gabriel C Okenwa, posited that the event in no doubts provided solutions, which he insisted would solve the challenges confronting the Agricultural sector.
Prof. Okenwa further disclosed that the president had given approval to policies geared towards revolutionizing agriculture in Nigeria among which he revealed was the agreement with Morocco to supply raw materials for fertilizer in Nigeria.

Corroborating, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr Kennedy Okpara said the survival of the country was dependent on agriculture, as he urged the people to give more attention to agriculture.
