All roads leads to Charlotte, United States of America, today as Owerri people especially those residing in America mark their Annual Convention.
The event has been scheduled to hold for four days, running from July 18-21.
The Annual Convention, 19th in the series will witness the gathering of Owerri people particularly those that hail from the three local governments of Owerri Municipal, Owerri West and Owerri North (Owerri Federal Constituency).
A statement issued by the President Mr. Uzoma Iheanacho indicated that the event will be used to raise funds for the WOPC science, technology, engineering, and medicine (STEM) scholarship program in Owerri Federal Constituency.
Going further, he indicated that the convention will harness ideas for public sanitation focused on public toilet facilities.
A key note address according to his statement will be delivered by Engr. EmekaUdokporo, the President of Ihiagwa Town Management Council and a business mogul.
Uzoma again stated that this year’s event will stand out in importance because ‘the WOPC intends to establish partnership with the President Generals of Owerri Federal Constituency autonomous communities for grass root mobilization as it pertains to education, sanitation, healthcare, and advocacy’’.
Some of the activities lined up to mark the ceremony include Seminars: Economics and Political Plenary Sessions, Diaspora Financial Investment Plans, International Youths Relations Forum.
There will also be Exhibitions: Health and Wellness Fair, Diaspora Banking and Real Estate Investment Fair, Nigeria Arts and Fashion Gallery. There will also be a Gala Night Performances featuring Emma Nwa Achoro
The Charlotte event is packaged by a committee of Matt Njoku, Okey Eke and Walter Okonkwo.
