The member Representing Ikeduru in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Uche Ogbuagu, has assured his constituents that the present Ikeduru LGA will witness a face lift in the twelve political wards in the area.
The lawmaker who gave the assurance to some newsmen last week at his country home, said the local government has witnessed serious infrastructural decay in the last administration as a result of some people using government offices to enrich themselves at the expense of the people who according to him are in dare need of development.
He noted that the desire to represent his people was his upmost agenda, to salvage his people from misrule, where self aggradizement at a point became the order of the day in the LGA.
The lawmaker added that he became worried and desire to join the election, as to make a shift in the paradigm, to make a change , positing that at first, people saw him coming out for elective position as one of those comedies, but later it became a mass movement, with a campaign name, “Ikeduru Alive”.
Continuing, he noted that his electioneering campaign period, was an eye opener to him where he went round Ikeduru and saw the level of quagmire among his people.
According to him, he decided to help out in his own little way, irrespective of party politics, sank fifteen water boreholes across the 12 political wards of the area, adding that all oprational, delving into sports he noted that he was able to take quite a number of their youths to club sides, mostly outside the country.
Moreso, to attract investment in the area, he said in January this year his campaign team “Ikeduru Alive”, hosted the first ever football tournament, where according to him most Ex-Super Eagles stars stormed his area, for about four days in quest of talent hunt, where after which some youths were picked.
Hon Ogbuagu, expressed joy over the state Governor Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha’s takeoff and appointments, stating that since he is yet to settle down, to the level of damage, decay and destruction orchestrated by the last administration, he felt moved to start salvaging the situation in Ikeduru, by renovating some schools, especially the Comprehensive School Ngugo, where laboratory and a class room are under renovation.
He pointed out that, the Orie Akabo market, of the old Akabo people is also in serious renovation, where the whole old structure were demolished and a new building is being eracted, where facilities like ATM gallery will be installed due to the large gap which the people have suffered for so long traveling from one town to another to make their transaction.
