In pursuance of total fulfilment of political campaign promises and a show of appreciation to the electorates, the National Assembly member representing Mbaitoli and Ikeduru Federal Constituency, Hon. Henry Nwawuba on Saturday, organized financial empowerment for women of his Constituency.
The empowerment programme tagged “Rt.Hon. Henry Nwawuba women Business Start-up empowerment programme” was held at Mbaitoli Local Government headquarters, Nwaoriubi.
The lawmaker said the empowerment programme was in compliance with his life policy of keeping to promises as made during the 2019 election campaign and to reward God through human beings for making him clinch as ranking Legislator of Federal House without litigation after the 2019 election.
Nwawuba said the empowerment programme was strictly for business women selected from the Federal Constituency, adding that they are meant to receive twenty five thousand naira (#25,000) cash empowerment.
“This is our campaign promise, campaign promises are made to be kept, I’m one of the politicians that believes that we don’t make promises for making sake. By the grace of God we have gone into 2019 election and I have no Court case, no litigation and no tribunal.
“I said to myself why not put some of that money I would have spent in the court and put smile on the faces of the windows, the market women and my Constituency so that we can quickly begin to redeem some of these promises. If you empower a woman you have empowered a family. Without the support of our women probably we”ll not be where we are today, I take the issues of women very serious particularly empowerment.
“The criteria was simply, as long as you are a woman that engaged in any kind of table business, we will give you a little assistance that will take hopefully your business to the next level. Businesses that need further enhancement or support, we are prepared to do so, women of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru can definitely expect more.” He stressed.
In his remarks, the PDP South East Organizing Secretary, Chief Victor Assams, said “that goes to show you that PDP is a serious party, go to the whole part of Nigeria, I can tell you that there is no place APC is in government that they are doing a thing like this, this is PDP and it’s a wonderful programme, this is our trade mark.”
“I understand that before December he is going to do another programme. I appreciate what he is doing.” Assams noted.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. July Onyenazi who is the coordinator of Smiling Windows Mbaike chapter, commended Nwawuba for his constant empowerment especially to women and assured him of adequate utilization of the funds made available to them and prayed that God continue to bless him for the actualization of his political targets.
