Self rejection is the worst of all rejections as it has the tendency of leading to suicide and extreme depression. A common adage says that “A rejected person should not reject himself”. It is quite unfortunate that many people have left themselves in the place of personal abandonment as a result of happenings in life which may include other forms of rejections and disappointments. When a man rejects himself, he exposes himself to dangers untold.
You are the only one that can stop yourself. “If your faith says yes, God will not say no”. Failure is not failure, the failure that is failure is when the individual fails and refuses to rise. Many people encountered ugly situations in life and still made it to the top because they refused to give up on themselves. Don’t give up on yourself. Don’t let the reality of life destroy your dreams. You owe it to yourself never to let go your dreams, goals, or hopes.
Dissatisfaction will happen in your life. People may lose faith in you. Every day can bring forth more challenges, but the joy, hope and vision you hold in your dreams, your aspirations, your goals, can see you through difficult times as long as you never give up believing in yourself.
* Are you at the point of giving up on your dream?
* Are you just about to let your aspirations slip through your fingers?
* Are you dejected that things are not working out the way you want?
* Have you stopped believing in yourself?
* Are you now questioning whether you really have what it takes to achieve your dreams?
Beloved, you owe it to yourself never to let go off your dreams, they give meaning to your life. Even when your closest supporter, shows loss of belief in you and even walks away, don’t let it stop your fight, keep going till you succeed. Keep going until you win. Success comes to people who have the courage to keep going no matter the obstacles.
David came to the point where he was nearly dejected and rejected that the people he was leading thought of stoning him. The bible says “David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” (1Sam 30:6). He encouraged himself and enquired of the Lord, strength came, answer came, solution came, and recovering became the order of the day.
Never stop believing in yourself, whenever you doubt yourself, think about these inspiring stories about people who have succeeded against the odds. Never forget you have awesome potential within you.
Accept that you will experience failure, criticism and ridicule, some people may even try to stop you, others will give up on you, but you don’t have to reject yourself.
“You always pass failure on the way to success.
The road to success is paved with obstacles, but you have to persist, keep at it, keep learning and never give up. When you get knocked down, just get back up and keep moving towards your dream. A knock down is not a knock out.
Every victory comes in time. Work today to change tomorrow. Every step you take gets you closer to your destination.
HOW TO STOP GIVING UP ON YOURSELF
Stop trying to fix yourself and forcing yourself to do things you don’t really want to do. .
At one point in life, people will abandon you, reject you and discourage you. Refuse to give up on yourself and you will be glad you continued.
EFFECTS OF SELF REJECTION
Self rejection leads to safe hate, depression, suicide and other forms of suffering. Generally, rejection and fear of being rejected can lead to suicide. The act of rejection can make the person experiencing it undergo a sudden drop in positive emotion. This is displayed as something ranging from a vague disappointment, sadness and depression, to anxiety, phobic behavior, or even stalking or forcibly abducting the rejected person.
Another outcome of self rejection is unpredictable anger. People who are hurt or feel rejected find themselves easily frustrated. They become loners and are constantly overly concerned about others opinions.
OVERCOMING SELF REJECTION
- We need to develop a sense of belonging according to .Romans 8:15-17
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Christians are members of our heavenly father’s family. We are told that God will never desert us nor will He leave us.
- Develop the sense of self-worth.
God created us and what God created is never worthless. Not only did God create us, but he loves each one of us so much that he gave his only son to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. And God blessed us and says we are good.
Our value does not change with circumstances. Our value is based on God’s infinite and unchanging love.
- Sense of competency.
We cannot live a successful life on our own. Rom 8:11 says,
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
When we are obedient to the Holy Spirit that dwells in us, and the word of God, the Holy Spirit guides us and enables us to be victorious in all things.
We can trust him to give us the victory over all feelings of self—rejection. Some number of suicides were caused by rejection from loved ones.
Have you felt depressed and thought about suicide after a recent break-up or rejection from someone you love? Take a moment to recognize that your relationship with this person doesn’t define your worth. Recognize that you can help yourself by taking control of your emotions and finding ways to be healed.
